WOOD, LAMINATE & TILE FLOORS, COUNTER TOPS
WALLPAPER, FAUX PLASTER
This was a very simple application of updating existing built-in hutch and kitchen cabinets. Customer selected Kelly Moore “Alameda”. in a semi-gloss finish. This selection created a more consistent use of color found in the existing wallpaper and draperies than the previous “off white” finish. As a result the room took on a new warmth and pleasant atmosphere. This same treatment was applied to the kitchen. Wainscot in the dining area and adjoining kitchen was painted “White Linen” by Kelly Moore Paints. I would like to point out out that, I will work with any paint products, preferred by the customer. I will also guide you on decisions.
In many cases you can select your color from unlimited “chip” sources or select existing colors from virtually anything, draperies, wallpaper, etc.
Experimenting is good, on this project we finished door panels for the customer to consider before proceeding. These cabinets were previously painted with enamel. Surfaces were de-glossed, primed & painted. This finish should fair well for years to come.

I regret, not taking a picture before I started this kitchen. The original surface was a multicolored light green laminate. The kitchen before title, was impressive, tile added substantial character & warmth.
We opted to frame all of the counter edges with a custom wood edging. Original counter surface was removed, to insure a good tile bond. I have seen some installers tile over laminate, I for one will not.
Tile selection 6x6 inch , Grout was Poyblend sanded - Antique White
We modified the breakfast bar, expanding the top to accommodate the exact length and with of tiles. This eliminate any need for cuts in the tile and greatly enhanced the appearance.
As you watch the pictures change you will see where new down lights were added over the counter.
Some jobs are just downright fun. I really enjoyed this one. What to do about that little stretch, from one place to another. In this case its the carport and the back door. Solution? Add a trellis & top it with translucent lightweight roofing .
Protection from the rain & sun, but still allowing light to window and door below. Get creative and if you need some ideas, lets get together and talk about it. All of the trellis components were primed, painted to match house exterior, this item would have looked good stained also.
Water Damaged Soffit
Sometimes you have some problems and you just have to get into the affected area to see what your dealing with. In this case it was water damage caused by leaks in flashing where the fireplace meets the roof.
Actually the flashing had rusted out over the last 15 years or so. Probable cause was a buildup of leaves and debris. In the first picture, were looking at the roof from underneath. The damaged Soffit has been removed. You can see the extensive damage to the framing and truss
When ever you have water damage, inside or outside of your home. It’s a good idea to look into it further. This type of damage only get worst with time.
Replacing Cultured Marble with Custom Tiles
So what was wrong with the original tub?
Well it was fine, until time, maybe a shift in the tub or foundation caused the front of the tub to crack. And if you have a cultured marble tub, many are one-of-a-kind, and replacement pieces don’t exist.
This not a problem you see every day. It does demonstrate that there is a way fix almost anything. I looked over 4 or 5 of my favorite spots in Dallas to find tile & marble that could blend well with the existing marble. You cant see it in the picture but, the height of the tile at the front is 1 inch lower, part of the original design for drainage.
Fixing the tub required installing laminations of wood, matching original curve front. Tile was then bonded to the new surface. The tile used was 18 x 18, floor tile with a marble pattern. The front of the tub arches forward so it was necessary to cut tile 6 inches wide to make the curve. A custom tile repair with elegance, perhaps more so that the original.
If you have a unique problem? I am willing to get creative to solve it.
New tile, wallpaper, paint & Faux molding make a great bathroom even greater.
Also installed thermostatic controlled shower, removing and replacing original tiles as required.
